Wedding and Free Throws...

So the last few days have been kinda interesting… Last Tuesday I had the honor of meeting Bob’s mom, as she’s in Guatemala visiting Central America for the first time. I always find it interesting to meet my friends parents / siblings, as I think it helps me understand my friends better (you know, putting the puzzle together). Bob’s mom seemed super nice, though I didn’t get to talk to her that much… Speaking of, Bob and Jud will be moving to the city in the next couple of weeks, they signed a 1 year contract and will be leaving in zone 15 (by Las Sombrillas… which could mean trouble).

Friday night we headed to Monoloco with Estuardo, Marianna, and Sieka, met Jud and some of his friends. Afterwards, we went to La Sala to listen to a local reggaeish bland play… very funky sound.

Saturday I had a wedding at Casa Santo Domingo in Antigua, my mom’s cousin’s kid was getting married. Tons of people were they, though I didn’t know that many, I still had a blast, hung out with the family, and had quite a bit of rum before splitting around midnight… Afterwards went to Monoloco, had some drinks there and we all left for Kevin’s house for a nightcap. So Kevin has some new roommates, the M & M boys, and guess what one of them has: that’s right, the original Nintendo game console. Man, we were up for quite awhile playing Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros…. too bad they didn’t have RBI baseball!!!

This past Monday we had our first play-off game in the semifinals… The score was tight throughout, and with about 40 seconds left in the game, we were up by 4 points. We inbounded the ball, one of our guys started dribbling, got the ball stolen, and the other team scored a 2 point basket. No panic, about 20 secs left, with us up by 2 points. The other team applied pressure during the inbound, I ended up getting the ball, and fouled immediately. I had to shoot 2 foul shots, and I was sure I would make at least one, for us to be up by three… I ended up missing both, and the other team came racing down the court, shot a 3 pointer, and that was the game… we freaking lost by ONE POINT! Anyway, the first team to win two games advances, I have a chance to redeem myself tonight… hopefully we’ll kick some ass.

Last, not sure if you’ve heard this song by the Manic Street Preachers feat. Nina Persson from the Cardigans - "Your Love Alone is Not Enough." I love this song, just heard it for the first time about 3 weeks ago, and I can’t get it out of my head.

Mixed feeling and volcano pics…

Not to get into too many details, but this person I had high hopes for brought me back down to reality extremely quickly. I saw a lot of potential in this person, we got along great, and had amazing conversation… unfortunately for me, it wasn’t the right moment (or at least I tell myself that) and things didn’t end up as I had planned. I was told to tread lightly with this person, but I didn’t listen and gave it a shot anyway… I should really start listening more to my friends… though I was really starting to like this person… FUDGE!!! No more tofurkeys...

On more exciting news, I had a work trip to Panama (I had never been there before) that ended up being very positive. Met a lot of people who are anxious about working with the Foundation, and things seem to be moving along quickly. Hopefully they’ll sign the memorandum with us soon and we can start helping out. Right before my Panama trip, I had some really bad stomach virus that had me on the Disabled List for a couple of days… seriously, for a complete day I was either in the toilette or sleeping since by body was completely out of it. I’ve never had a stomach virus affect me this much… good thing is I might have lost a few extra pounds… hehe.

Speaking of extra pounds, I’m gonna finally start hitting the gym again… I haven’t been to the gym since my car accident back in the middle of April, as I didn’t have a car… and then I just got lazy. My basketball team is doing pretty well, as we’re in the playoffs… though my stamina is way down, I was so tired after the last game ended (probably cause I haven’t worked out for about 3 months now).

Sports wise the Bosox got swept by the Tigers, but still have a 10 game lead over the Evil Empire and the Blue Jays in the AL East, plus we’re sending 6 players to the ALL STAR game. I’ll be watching the HR Derby and the ALL STAR game in the next couple of days… Speaking of the Sox, I found this great clip of the 1986 World Series that u must check out if u ever played RBI BASEBALL for Nintendo (the outcome of the series sucks anyway though).




And finally, I was in Antigua about two weekends ago and took some really cool volcano pics… I love how magnificent the volcano and clouds look. If you're into photography, Guatemala has some amazing photo opportunities...
