Mi carro...

I finally have my car! Yeah!!! I went to the dealership onThursday to pick it up and it looks so good. I couldn't pick up the car before then, since I didn't get my license to drive till Wednesday. I had to process the license like it was my first one, since the Guatemalan license I had expired ten years ago (had to take the written test and drive around the block). The car is a Nissan X-Trail and it's a really comfortable, with plenty of options to make the ride more enjoyable. I had the X-Trail and the Honda CRV in mind, but the X-Trail ended up being the better choice for me (more HP and a little bigger). So far, I've only driven it three times, but the ride is so smooth and I can't wait till I start driving it to work (once I finally land something). So I took some pics on Thursday for all of you to see:

View from the front... Xenon lights are great!

View from the side... tinted windows (not too dark).

Final view, with my house in the back...

What else? Well, I went to Mazatenango on Friday. One of my friends works at a liquor company, so he had to organize a party on Friday. He was flying in some dancers from Costa Rica (amazing!) and he had hired two models to help promote the party...so he asked me to tag along. The best part, the models rode in the car with us. It was quite a blast, with us ending up in the pool at 3 AM back in the hotel... sorry, no skinny dipping. Hope to have some pics of the event real soon... Keep on trucking,

My family...

I've decided that it would be good for everybody to see some other pics of my family, so you can visualize the people whenever I talk about them. As you may or may not know, my dad currently lives in the DC area and works for the World Health Organization. My mom (in Guatemala) works part time as a real estate agent, and my brother is studying to become a lawyer in Guatemala (or so he claims). Finally, my sister and her family live in London but come down to Guatemala to visit every chance they get. So here we go:

My brother (Rodolfo) and my mom
My dad, my brother, and your host.
I'm having some issues uploading the rest of the pics, so you I'll try again some other day...

So now you know my family (or part of them), hope this helps in understanding me a little better... or if it doesn't, hope you enjoyed the pics.

In other news, I've payed for my car (Nissan X-trail http://www.nissan.co.uk/home/vehicles/4x4/T30/index.html ) and should be getting it tomorrow... how exciting. Job hunting is still in it's early stages, so no news on that front.

By the way, please leave me a comment so I know people are checking out the blog... otherwise, I can't tell if people are visiting or not. Muchas gracias,

Marnix

So as you all know, my sister and her family were down in Guatemala for about three weeks. We had a great time down here. Marnix finally got baptized, I was the godfather (scary), and we all got to spend plenty of time with the little one. Marnix is so funny and a blast to be around... He doesn´t talk yet (may be caused by the fact that he is talked to in English, Spanish, and Frech) but he is walking and loves going up and down steps. Anyways, here are some pictures of the one, the only, Marnix Daniel.

Here's Marnix in his pajamas....

Here we are after his baptism....

And here are (from left to right): my cousin, Marnix, my sister, and my mom.

Finally, here's a pic with the rest of the family... again from left to right: Me, my sister, my brother in law w/Marnix, my brother's girlfriend, my brother and my dad. Enjoying a nice lunch in Antigua Guatemala.

Anyways, gotta run...

My first comments

Hello world! This is officially my first entry. I hope to have entries both in Spanish and in English. I don´t have any pictures yet, but will add some on the next entry.

Everything is fine down here in Guatemala, enjoying the warm days and mom's cooking. As I've told some people, I hope to buy a car this week or next (will let you know when it's final). Besides that, I've started my job search last week. I've had a couple of interviews, including one with LG Electronics, which was a complete was of time. They basically called me in to say that my resume looked great but that they didn't have any open positions for which I was a fit... great!!!

Anyways, hope everybody is doing well (in DC, VA or wherever you may be) and drop me a line when you get a change.

Abrazos,
