Cancun... Volume 2!

Aloha! Here we have some more pics from the Cancun mayhem... though I must say, I'm paying for the time off now, I've left work pretty late since Tuesday. Anyways, back to remembering the good times:

This was the hotel bar right by the beach.... hammocks, chairs, and beds to catch some sunrays and get your drink on. Almost in front of this bar, we played some beach football... the ball was very hard to catch while wet... plus before passing, we had to dry the ball (like the refs when it's raining).

This was one of the clubs we hit on Thursday night... Daddy Rock... as you can see, the place was packed!!! Plus, someone from our group danced in the pole in the back (the funniest thing ever!). Here, we saw yet another wet t-shirt contest... not like I'm complaining!

Ok, so on Friday night we went to this Club called The City, and we left there around 3:45 AM... only five of us were left at this point. So we started walking to our bust stop, when we see this really cool lounge / bar (Cabana Beach) that is still pumping and has some very chill lounge music, along with an ocean view (plus it's outdoors). We had to stop for at least one drink, and after awhile, and a few more drinks, we realize it's about 5:45 AM... which wouldn't have been a problem any other day, but on Sat morning we had an adventure day scheduled, with our bus leaving from the hotel at 7:15 AM. So we decide to head out, take the bus back to the hotel, and have a quick snack... It was about 6:20 AM when someone suggested we should go check out the sunrise... So these are the pics from those moments right before sunrise:

Carlos, Carolina, Ceasar, Andres, and Renaldo.... the all nighters!

Renaldo and Carlos... can you believe that I'm still having beers at this point! (Dos Equis)

The circle of life... err, circle of no sleep! Still.. Hakuna Matata!

So after just going back to my room (around 7:00 AM) and only showering, it was time to get on the bus and head over to Tulum (Mayan Ruins). I of course slept the entire bus ride there (about 1 hr) and was extremely tired during the educating walk...

Interesting Mayan ruins, but we have better ones in Guatemala (Tikal baby!)

Then we headed out to Xehal (or something like that), very cool place where the ocean meets a lake... Plenty of activities to do: Snorkeling, biking, swimming with dolphins (one in this pic), swimming, etc. My first stop after lunch? The hammocks to catch another nap so that I could have some energy for snorkeling (what I really wanted to do).

On the bus ride back to the hotel, took another hour nap... Once at the hotel, a friend and I went to the shopping mall, and then meet everybody for our last dinner in Cancun. Finally, we headed out to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville for some drinks... our last night in Cancun! It had to be chill since we were leaving the hotel at 7AM... Phew! Not sure I could have this crazy schedule every week, but it was a blast!!!

Sunday the Pats lost to those damn Colts... but I was too tired to care.

Abrazos,

CRCP

P.S. - Any predictions for the big game? I want the Bears to whip the Colts... is it just me, or those everybody hate Peyton Manning???

Cancun... Take 1

Cancun... Where the fun don't done!!! Orale bueyes! This is the first post of the Cancun mayhem that was experienced last week... Yes, I did bring my camera with me, but since so many people had cameras as well, I actually took it pics one day... and for a very brief period (those pics will be coming later on).

Pic from the first day / night in Cancun... the hotel we were staying at was amazing... right by the beach, man! The room we got, after some mix up (my roommate and I got a room with only ONE king size bed, not sure if he was trying to hint at something, but we went down to the lobby and had that fixed... two queen beds in another room with a ocean right in front of us).

The other pool in the hotel, with a view of the surroundings in the background...

Our first night of drinking (and for sure the best night of all) with my coworkers. Here we are hanging out by the beach bar at the Hotel, enjoying some drinks and getting ourselves ready for the evening. This is only part of my coworkers since the others came in later on (it was a guys night out). The first night out at Basic was the best night out as far as drinking goes, we all had our batteries going and couldn't wait to get started... the other night's were still crazy (one night, we headed back to the hotel at 6 AM).

Aaaaahhh... the beach! I swear, the beach was amazing over there. The waves were a bit strong, but good enough for boogie boarding (man, that was tiring... only there for half an hour, but I got so winded) and beach football.

Our second night out, the crew is ready... more people came out this time, including two of our female coworkers. We headed to Daddy Rock / Daddy Oh this time... really good times! I'm the tall dude in the red shirt to the right...

Here we are at the bar... and you can see, we did have plenty of liquor at the table.

Wet T-shirt contests in Cancun are the best!!! I don't have pics of the Wet T-shirt contest from the Wed night (which in my opinion was the best), but all the contests were freaking amazing (really wet and a bit too nasty if you ask me...). In this pic from Thursday Night, we have a girl from Seattle, Washington which we basically made her win. Our group shouted her name over and over when the winners were being decided... until she finally won US $1,000, some very nice dough. Funny thing is, we went to another bar later on that same night, and when the Wet T-shirt contest started, guess who was there? Yep, the girl in the pink bikini... she came in third on this contest, since competition was a bit better and we didn't cheer as much, since all of us had no voices.

Chilling by the pool and working on my tan... and yes, those are nachos in front of me!!! I didn't tan as much, since my natural color is pretty tan to begin with... and the sun in Cancun, my God... I swear it was extremely intense!

Sun setting on our Cancun vacation (view from the Hotel Lobby of the pool) ... but not on the pics, more to come later on this week. So far, so freaking good... no one got arrested, though someone did dance on a pole.. to freaking funny!

Later people... hope to have more pics and more detail soon.

Cancun baby!!!

I haven’t posted since about two weeks ago, work has been extremely hectic and I’ve had no down time. Reasons? Working on all the year end stuff, presentations for the Board, and finalizing other things… and the main reason, I’m going to Cancun tomorrow (Wednesday)! My work is flying us (25 of us) to Cancun due to the fact that we had such a great year in 2006. The trip is to the Hotel Gran Caribe Real Cancun, which is an all inclusive hotel right by the beach…I can’t wait! This means all this past weeks we’ve been working to get things in order so that we can take this time off (Wed – Sunday). I know it's not as fancy as Monaco like Ethan / Sung this year, but still... I'm quite thankful and really looking forward to it.

What else has happened in my life? Had a semi blind date on Thursday with a girl I thought I didn’t know, but apparently I had met her in Antigua once (like 4 months ago). She was really nice, ok looking, a little too concerned with clothes… not really my type… Hey! I gave it a try. This past weekend I enjoyed the football games, especially with the NE Patriots winning (I know it was an ugly, but a win is a win) and saw a couple of flicks: The Black Dahlia (really good suspense movie) and Little Miss Sunshine (laugh out loud funny… especially with the VW van).

My bro and mom had a great time in Haiti… loved spending some time at the beach and with the family. My sister and family made it back to England with no problems (what a change in weather from Haiti).

Hope everybody is doing great and hopefully I can have a longer post next week… if I don’t land in the Mexican jails for some reason.
Aloha,
Carlos

P.S. - Bought the new Oasis CD: Stop the Clocks (Best of)… really good music.
P.S. II - Heard a version of In Da Club (50 Cent) to the beat of Closer from NIN… kinda interesting.
P.S. III - Congrats to Jud on landing his new gig… come back and visit often buddy!
P.S. IV - Bob had a quick trip to Mexico… but he was there for only 16 hours… hahaha.
P.S. V - Becks to the LA Galaxy? Wow… I thought that was a couple of years away from happening.

2007 is here! New Year, same old tricks…

Happy New Year to all my compadres! I can’t believe another year is now officially here…. The last week of 2006 was a huge blast. Let’s go over the events:

Tuesday I got together with friends to play Phase 10 and some pizza at Tatiana’s house… It took us about 30 minutes to decide what to eat, and another 30 minutes to find the delivery number, really pathetic effort on our part.

Wednesday I had my cousin’s birthday… he just turned 15… So I went over to his house and had… yes, pizza again. Felicidades Fritz!

Thursday… rested and got ready for the upcoming long weekend.

Friday I went out with Brenda to Antigua… she came down for the holidays from VA and it was great to spend time with her and catch up on old times and DC friends. Went to Monoloco for a few drinks, headed to an after party, and finish the night off with some tacos… hhmm… so freaking good when you’ve had some drinks.

Saturday was the XL Party on Puerto Quetzal (close to the beach)… I got there around 7 PM, because they needed me to help out with the bracelet checking at the entrance, making sure that the people remained in order and were not wearing any other beer / liquor related clothes or accessories. I stayed there from 7 PM till about 11:30 PM and we left the party around 3AM… so my legs were killing me towards the end of the night / morning. Moderato was the surprise artist at the party, and everybody had a great time, as plenty of rum was served. Kevin, Pete, Allison, Lucky, Gaby, Juanfer and a whole bunch of other friends attended the event (Pescadito Ruiz and Dwight Pezzarossi also were in attendance). Unfortunately, Bob and Jud backed out last minute… lame!

Sunday (Bob had invited me to go climb a volcano in the afternoon, but with my bad pinky toe and my legs tired from the night before, I had the decline) we headed down to Antigua for dinner at La Fonda de la Calle Real, then headed down to Monoloco, went out before twelve to the park to watch the fireworks / hug random strangers, and then went back to Monoloco to celebrate the New Year by having champagne, beer, shots, and rum… wow! We then hit the streets of Antigua and called it a night around 4 AM… or at least I did, some of my other friends went to some outdoor party thing that lasted till 6:30 AM (including Bob’s dad that’s like the Energizer bunny). Pics from the craziness…

The crowd at Monoloco... they had closed the bar, so only good friends were allowed to stay (that's Pete giving everybody the finger)

Carlos, Lucky, Marta, and Juan

Zac dancing with some girl from Nebraska...

Pete, Barbara (the mom of one of the owners), and Carlos

Carlos, Bob, Allison, and Bob's dad

Lula, Sheny, and Carlos

Sheny and Jud approve of this picture...

Not sure what in the world is happening here...

Walking the street of Antigua... maybe the way the pic came out was the way I felt at that point in time.

Central Park for the Holidays...

Monday - January 1st 2007 (wow, I hope to remember to write 2007 in the checks I give out) I met up with my dad for a bite to eat and a dip in the pool (he was staying at Casa Santo Domingo) and later on went to my aunt’s house for chunto (kakiq), which is basically a turkey soup, with rice, vegetables, and spices… really freaking good. Bob called me later on the night because he needed a place to crash since he had just dropped of his dad at the airport, and he didn’t want to drive his motorcycle down to Antigua at night.

Tuesday I had to go back to work, which was really hard since my body was getting used to going to bed around 3 AM and waking up around 11AM. Work was pretty chill, so I was able to leave somewhat early. Bob never left the city for some reason, and so he again needed a place to stay (even though I was going to Antigua to meet up with friends), so he came down to Antigua with me, and then came back to the city later on… strange! Saw more than a few familiar faces there, good times on Tuesday night’s at Monoloco (which is Ladies Night). I was stupid enough to remind Zac that he hadn’t charged me for anything the night before (needless to say he was a little drunk on New Years as well), but he had actually completely forgotten about the tab… me and my big freaking mouth!

On other topics, this clip is the funniest thing ever! Not sure if you can return this gift or traded in for something else, but make sure to follow the steps…

P.S. My mom and brother and coming back from Haiti tonight…we’ll see what stories they have.
P.S. II - Congrats to Bob and getting his new bike helmet… con cuidado canche!
P.S. III - I won my NFL picks… I was in first place for the entire season… damn I’m good! I won about $US184 after paying about $US26 to play.
P.S. IV - NE Patriots better beat the Jets on Sunday…
